what is a preamp in relation to guitar amps?....help me out!!!...thanks guys......

Hello al kyder or whatever your name is this is danny boy. I was just asking an honest question. I was reassuring people that I am not racist because it seems as soon as a person starts saying anything about politics, race, or religion on here everyone starts going crazy. Also if you don't know what a preamp is you shouldn't even be playing the electric guitar.

Amplifiers tend to have requirements for input at a certain level. Different sources such as mics, turntables, CD Players and musical instruments put out widely different levels. So a pre-amp takes the output from whatever it was designed to work with and raises it to the level the amp wants.
