Check your battery cables, check the fuses and if that isn't it. Then have your battery jumped. If that doesn't work then replace the starter and have the alternator checked.

If the battery is good, as in running the headlights and heater blower motor on high, and your battery connections are clean and tight, then the clicking sounds like you solenoid contacts are bad.
When you turn the key, the solenoid shoots forward and large contacts connect the battery to the starter motor. The contacts get burned from arcing and can't pass the current needed by the starter.
Most cars today have starters with internal solenoids. Since you don't say what kind of car you have, follow the large red cable from the battery. It will either go to the starter or a large relay with two large terminals on it. The other large wire would go to the starter from there.
A starter repair shop can easily replace the contacts for far less than a new starter.

One of 2 problems.
1. Discharged battery.
2. Not enough current reaching the Starter. (a loose battery cable perhaps)
Good news is that if you hear a click, the starting circuit works.

most likely you have a bad connection, battery maintenance is one of the most over looked check all of your connections first and if that doesn't seem to be the problem then carry your battery to an auto parts store and have them load test the battery. But between the two that should solve your problem.

sweetest ecs... honey check to see that your batter cables and posts are clean no white and yellow crusty stuff built up on them if there is get a wire brush and scrub it off or get a can of coke and poor over it...try starting it then if it dont start you may have a dead battery or it may need to be charged ... did you leave your lights or anything on when you shut the car off...

Check your battery cables. They could either be loose or have acid built up on them. If they appear to be ok, more than likely you will need a new battery.
