I read something in the aljazeera net (very suspicious hehe)Sorry, but I think that you and that scientist are less intelligent than dolphins for believing this, 'cause I've never heard such nonsense before until read that article . Have you ever seen a goldfish doing any of those extraordinary things the dolphin's done?.

His premise was that if you left the lid off of a goldfish tank, it would eventually jump out to expand its environment.

However, dolphins have only really been studied in a closed (and usually bred) environment, with learned behaviours for rewards (think Pavlov's dogs with fish). Supporters of dolphin's intelligence usually stems from the size of their brains - but this is solveable by the fact they are a large mammal in a cold water environment - it needs to be big to work at all.

I believe that study was relating to a specific capability of goldfish vs. dolphins. It is like saying that dogs are more intelligent than humans because they can remember the smells of each other's behinds better than we can. Of course dolphins have far greater cognitive awareness than any fish has.

Scientific data can easily be manipulated to say what you want it to say - at some levels maybe goldfish are more intelligent, at others maybe dolphins are - read back at your original source carefully and check out the evidence that they are using to back up their claims - then you might find your answer.

I was always under the impression that mice were the most intelligent species on Earth, followed by dolphins and then mankind.

I've done experiments with dolphins, and I found them amazingly intelligent and quite mischevious.

I tried telepathic communication. Mind you I cannot hear them speaking, but I spoke directly too them using my mind only. Not only would they respond when I called them over in my mind, but they would do things I'd ask them to.

It's quite amazing and I think more research time should be invested with these creaters.
