I was needing to know if men have like a "burn out" of being married to their spouses and just not interested in sex after 16 years...or is it something they go through and withdraw themselves...I have a friend thats been married for 16yrs and her hubby doesn't even kiss her good-bye in the mornings...let alone she is lucky to have sex with him once a week, he doesn't act interested anymore...could someone give me advice to give to her??? She feels like she is the only one in the marraige that cares anymore, and she says she is at her sexual prime and he just isn't down with it anymore...she is lucky to even hold his hand anymore...what is up with this?? Signs of cheating?? Signs of boredom or what?? Thanks in advance!!

Been there done that and we were only married 6 yrs,,,
Tell her for me please that cheating isn't really the way to go,, I tried that thinking that i could live with him not wanting me or seeing me as a wife,, if I was getting sexual pleasure other places,, but it's not just he physical act of sex,, it was the personal stuff like holding my hand,, and the intimate stuff.
We are in marriage counseling and it's helping some.

Well, I would advise her to look at herself now and compare with her image when her husband first met her and married her. Is there a great difference? If there is a great difference, she then has to reflect back throughout the 16 years of relationship with her husband. Have they been developing their love and understanding for each other?
If they not been developing their love for each other, what about their sexual behaviour? Are they a repetition for the past 16 years, act after act? She will have her answers there.

Just remember that, in large measure, people give back what they receive. Women who were courted once, get married, have kids, become wives who may or may not nag or be critical, becomes lovers who may or may not be willing sexual partners
turn around and say he's not affectionate or he doesn't want me sexually. She needs to step back and ask herself how many times she said no in the past or turned away from a hug and kiss. He may be giving her just what she asked for.
"Burn out"? That may be a name for it. It can also be he's just tired.

Its just indicates that they dont have time for each other.
Do some things together, like house renovation, movies, participate together in a game show or something that require both to think on same lines.

It could be a sign of comfort. Mostly I would say it is a sign of boredom.

Comfortable and boring. Can you imagine reading a playboy with the same centerfold, year after year after year after year. Its either boredom or she has gotten fat and lazy.

Yes.... very possible, but the question is, when you married her did you say for better or for worse? Till death do us part? If you'll try to dig in to your oath, it simply means no matter what, only death can separate you. So women... please choose your mate carefullly.

I think you'll find most (though not all) get tired way before 16 years.
