I ordered a notebook over almost a year ago and have not received by rebate yet. This happened because I didn't read the whole email and didn't see the link for the rebate. Because of this, by the time I was wondering where it was too late to submit this way and they had to cut a special check. This check never came. I called and they stopped payment and re-issued it, but then again it didn't come for months. I called once again and "it had just been printed". Now here I am 11 months later pissed off and not wanting to ever buy a DELL again!!!

A little detail to clarify for people who sympathize with Dell and say its my fault that I didn't read the whole email. Well, maybe, but when the "order confirmation" email is sent to you and thats all you expect the email to be you don't check for the one chance you have to get your rebate. It wasn't made obvious in anyway at the time of sale that this is how they handle "mail-in" rebates now (as oposed to the last time I ordered where you get a form in the box). Also, it was a small link 2 pages down the email. When I got the box it wasn't in there and when i got the chance to contact them it was past the 1 month window to submit.

I'm sitting here with a computer I'm still paying on, from Dell. It is making the most god awful noises, I've ever heard in a computer before. This thing is less than a year old.

When I ordered it, from a girl who command of english apparently was limited to "yes Mrs, thank you Mrs, yes it will do everything you want Mrs, thank you Mrs" ad nauseum.

I told her I simply wanted my computer to do two things, have the ability to send email and play Sims2. Guess what it doesn't do?

In fact after I got it, I find out that they didn't bother to put the video card in the computer and it would never run Sims2. So they mail me a video card, which has never worked.

I have spent so much frustrating time trying to speak to people who do not understand English, (which, I'm sorry, is a BASIC requirement if you are going to sell to Americans), who do NOT know a darn thing about their own product and who are liars. I find it offensive that in order to placate us because they are saving a buck by farming out customer service to another country, they have their customer service people change their fricken names to English names. Your mother did NOT name you "Paul or Susan" and you are lying and we both know it.

As you can see, my experience with Dell taught me an important lesson. Do not EVER buy anything where you cannot haul it right back to the store and toss it into the managers lap.

You can't blame them for you not reading the whole email. They went out of their way to accomodate you. It didn't work out, but then again you wouldn't have been in this situation if you had read the whole email.

Often companies like Dell use a 3rd party rebate administrator. They may be more to blame than Dell itself for the "lost" rebate check.

It's your fault for being lame and not getting the rebate stuff done when you were supposed to. You'll find that most companies will just blow you off for that.

Never had GOOD customer support from Dell... or Gateway, and most especially not from HP.

On the other hand, you gotta read the legal stuff, pal. It's there so they don't have to pay off.

Don'[t be mad at Dell for your mistake. If you had read and did what you were suppossed to do from the beginning you wouldn't be in the position you are holding now.
