the media want to risk having a "minority" on their channel's news team. It raises ratings. But they are too scared to go all the way and actually be unbiased. Asian women are more "accepted" cause they are Prettier and therefore more identifiable with.

Reporters are made up of a variety of races and national origins... But those that we see on TV are not necessarily the best reporters, many tend to be the ones who have a good TV look and appeal to television viewers...
It varies from decade to decade but right now Asian women are popular with American men. Asian men do not currently share the same level of popularity...

Christine Amanpur is not Asian nor is Riz Khan a lady.
Both are leading correspondents of CNN.
At that level the decisions are made on merit, lest they get exposed out there in the field.
