I'm nursing and soy milk was the only thing I ate differently the day he reacted badly. Is soy a kind of fruit?

I have two milk-allergic children, and in my research on the subject I have learned that people who are allergic to cow milk are also often affected negatively by soy products. Sometimes it is a full blown allergy, other times it causes bad symptoms, but doesn't actually show up on an official "allergy test" (this is a known flaw of allergy tests, it isn't 100% accurate).

The good news is that breastfeeding him is an EXCELLENT way to help his digestive system develop to be the best it can be, and if you avoid the foods he's reacting to now, his insides can heal from the irritation caused by them. That may enable him to outgrow the allergies after a couple years.

It would definitely be wise to avoid introducing solid foods too early with him, since it might trigger MORE reactions. Breastmilk will provide him the best and most easily digested nutrition. My fourth child hardly ate any solid foods except a taste here and there until he was a year old, and he is the one with the most food sensitivities of any of my family. He's very healthy and strong, he just gets these rashes from time to time!

Soy beans are legumes. Soy milk is made from soy beans. So is tofu, and other soy products. He could simply be allergic to soy. It's not an unheard of allergy.

Soy is in the category of Legumes (beans), many are allergic to it as well. He really needs to see a specialist to determine what he is allergic to. Some allergy is life threatening. Talk to your pediatician.
