Inside a large building or enclosed vehicle. If you are in the building, stay away from electrical equipment, corded telephones and plumbing. If in the car, don't touch any metal parts.

Nothing is more cool than a lightning storm. What I do is go out to the car and drive somewhere high where I can watch the show. If that's impossible cause the kids are in bed, I sit on the couch with the curtains wide open and watch from there. Storms are nothing to be scared of, they are an enigma that is wonderful. And since I do have 3 children, I make sure they know the best place to be is indoors or in the car, and none of them are frightened of storms either.

Just stay out of the storm, away from windows, don't use a landline telephone, and avoid showers at the height of the storm. Beyond that relax. Don't hide from lightning...that's silly...and if you have kids around you are going to give them a phobia.

DON'T HIDE IN YOUR CAR! That's one of the most dangerous places to be during a lightning storm.
Do the basement, or closet or bathroom ideas if you really have to hide from it.
I usually stand outside and watch it until it gets really close then I sit in the living room and watch it through the window. I don't stand too close to it, but I watch through it.
