Try watching your thoughts, remaining silent, and if possible eyes closed, for a while.
Do not try to contribute any further idea to these thoughts, do not participate in it, just try to be a witness to these thoughts.
It must help a lot.

The antidote to FEAR is ACTION. Worry is just a form of fear, internalized and mulled over. And you're right, it's not good for you. Action cures it. Get engrossed in doing something and fear goes away. The better you feel about yourself, the less there is to be afraid of.

(1) Find a way to make a difference. Volunteer in some way in your local community, if paid work is not open to you that will allow you an outlet for all that energy. Don't worry about money; most people's most financially productive years are from age 40 to 60. Your local public library is the place to start -- not the books, the librarians. Ask them or even look at the bulletin boards they might have there with postings. Local organizations always need help.

(2) EXERCISE!! Science has proven that when you do some kind of aerobic exercise for a minimum of a fifteen-minute stretch of time, hard enough that your breathing is fast and you heart has to work hard, e.g. playing soccer, running, bicycling at a high rate of speed, vigorous swimming, fragments of proteins that are 3-amino acids long, called ENDORPHINS, get released into your bloodstream and have the effect of making you feel good (euphoria) for a long period afterward, typically a day and a half for me. Find a way to exercise and stick with it.

And (3) read a good book on how to take control of thoughts: What To Say When You Talk To Yourself, by author Shad Helmstetter. I think it has been in print for about 9 years now.

U R suffering from being over emotionality it seems. If U could B so kind & caring even for animals, creatures, U should B taking equal care of yourself too. It also appears that U got a lot of unutilised time to think of such an petty matters. Get yourself involved in something U R interested in to keep busy, & if U know, practice Yoga & do meditations. Try to avoid looking at animals etc.staying away from them but keep a lot of company of friends, learn some art like singing, dancing whatever U like & then tell me the result on my IM , email , 360 . U could contact me on I M & B my online friend too.
Also U B regular in whole day activities, make programmes & schedules & work accordingly. Drink a lot of water at interwals during the whole day, specially in the morning.
Moreover, do not worry about thinking, but think wisely, in right directions, such as about career, studies, interests etc., Hope U'll improve upon weakness soon & take care. Do not forget to let me knowm the outcome. All the best.

there's nothing wrong with caring for the environment and for animals. we all have a responsibility as rational beings. A tip: if you can't do anything concrete about a problem at present, then know that there's no point being guilty and worrying about it for the time being. sometimes you can try to do the little somethings just to take the pressure off you.

Going out and having fun with friends is a good way to stop ruminating also. Better yet, maybe you can do volunteer work for animals and the environment WITH your friends.

You need to focus on something healthy-a hobby is good but one that involves physical exertion is better. If I have something on my mind I go for a 50 mile cycle. The combination of endorphines and fresh air clear my mind of any worries.

Find a right-brain, creative activity you enjoy. This will quell, perhaps for just a few hours a day, your left-brain.

I chose the piano....but then Yahoo Answers came along and ruined my plan.
