While the US newscasts will talk of freedom and sacrifice it is ironic that this sad event was perpetrated by Saudis who despite being a trading partner of the US for many years has no real freedom, nor does Egypt and freedom in Israel for Palestinians has not been realized. The point is if we are to avoid future 9/11's we must learn to look at the events that preceded 9/11 - our policies in the middle east, our dependence on foreign oil, and electing a Christian fundamentalist zealot all played a role...this is not to diminish the savagery of the perpetrators but it is important to recognize that everyone is involved...and until we look at this from all views it is likely that the conditions that led to 9/11 will still be with us with the risks that go with it.
