My computer takes an era to boot and I think it's because there's a bunch of non-essential programs starting at start up. I don't know which ones I need and which are chaf so I can't end them in task manager.

Is there a utility that'll end all the programs apart from Windows?

if u use win 9x/me/xp just follow this step: click on start ->> run type msconfig. A program will load. Find "Startup" tab. U'll find all running programe that starts when windows starts. just uncheck all unnecessary programs & restart ur pc. next time those programs will not load automatically. U can stop any program while u working by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete button. Select the running program from the list & press "End Process". This will end the programe.

This little utility will do the trick.

Go to www.sysinternals.com
Download and install the "Autoruns" utility

Once installed, open the program
Click on the Logon tab.
Uncheck the box next to any program that you don't want to launch at Start Up.
Close the Autoruns window
Reboot the PC

If you decide you want one or more of those programs to launch at Start Up then simply put a check back in the box and reboot the computer.
