Oh boy, do i know what you are talking about, having raised two sons a year apart. i swear they must have sprayed all over the wallpaper.
my solution was to use chlorox in the bowl.
then use a weak pinesol solution to clean the walls. be sure it won't stain or bleach your wallpaper. and keep some Lysol around.

If there is a small window I would try and keep that open, definately use lysol, and bleach on the floors and in the toilets...
If you used bleach and vinegar at the same time i am not sure even that would smell very good.
if you still dont have any luck try something that smells different like Mr. Clean...

get urine-be-gone. I can find it in the 'as seen on tv' section of my walmart. or go to urinebegone.com use the black light to find where the urine is hiding then spray it away.
I know it works because I use it, but I recommended it to a friend that was renovating a house that had CATS and he said it was overwhelming!!!! I told him to get it, use it and let it sit for a while... it worked and he could work on the remaining areas to finish the job. He thanked me greatly.
IF you don't want to get this product, then get a separate black light (to use in the dark) and find where the smell is hiding. Be prepared for the shock of your life about where you will have to clean. Then clean and disinfect the areas and your problem should be gone. Good luck.

Have your boys clean it with baking soda and soft scrub with clorox..
Which reminds me......I've just read that in Amsterdam they have the cleanest men's rooms because they have painted a small "dead" fly inside the toilet bowl (a little off center of the hole)....guess it keeps the males interested in what they're suppose to be doing instead of looking all over the bathroom...lol

as strange as it sounds, ammonia is great for getting rid of urine smells.
the boy's bathroom will always have a different smell than the girls room. good luck.

Hot water and soap is still the best for cleaning the bathroom. If you have carpet , change to linoleum. If you still have problems you could try odor gone that is used for pets. Of course teaching them to aim for the hole is also needed.

I had that problem with one of my bathrooms, and I cleaned it daily. The wax ring around the bottom of the bowl needed replacing. Is it an older toilet? You may want to check that out.
