War in Iraq is over:

Control of Iraqs Oil reserves (about 25% of world total), this is the main reason without any doubt. Anyone who says different is wrong and needs to look into the reality of the politics behind the situation more.

Control of the Middle East where most of the rest of the oil is, this is why the US is picking on Iran now, look at a map, Iran and Iraqs position geographically prevents India, Pakistan and China invading into the middle east without going through pro-US countries should they ever decide to take the oil for themselves, this may seem far fetched but in 20 years when oil is scarce, the military with oil rules the world - literally - and there will be nothing anyone without nukes can do about it.

Iraq trying to sell oil in Euros instead of dollars (would have badly damaged US economy and improved European economy. This is the event that sparked the US invasion itself.

The US Elections. Fear makes people vote for conservative values rather than progressive, Republicans are the former and the Al Qaida threat was enough to tip the fearmonger balance (please note the Al Qaida threat and the Iraq War are totally seperate issues and should note be associated with each other as O.bin Laden and S.Hussein are idealogically very different).

US Military needs an "outing" every 10 years or so else troops arent battle hardened and there are no battle veterans left for training and morale purposes.

Check out Counterpunch.org for more info. Many of the far right wingers on these boards will call it leftist propoganda etc however a lot of CPs reporting is from an eye witness point of view and/or written by well respected Ex-US Military people and journalists and so I believe can be taken seriously.

Note. The war has religous implications as well and problems however most of these have been started by western powers over the last 1000 years plus invading Islamic lands repeatedly for their wealth, this goes all the way up to the present day. If you don't believe this please read some history.

When the former USSR (Russia) and the West were locked in 'Cold War' there were various wars that were happening around the world.
Iran was formerly Persia. In the 1970's the US supported Shah was over thrown and a religious Govt came to power, they immediately had support from the USSR.
Religious war began between Iraq and the newly named Iran. Because Iran was being supported, financially and with Arms, by USSR and the West didn't want a communist sphere of influence in the area, they supported a Saddam Hussein led Iraq, funding him and supporting him even though he committed great atrocities.
When communism collapsed and glasnost came about, the 'Cold War' had stopped.
Whilst, still wishing to keep control in the Oil rich lands of the Middle East, the West had supported and funded a despot and tyrant who was now in control of the fourth largest mobilised army in the world. Saddam wanted a port to export his oil and invaded Kuwait, the cynical amongst us could believe that the West was fully aware of these plans and it gave them the excuse to attack Iraq and dismantle the 'Beast' that we had built.
Unfortunately the 1991 War didn't go far enough, whilst removing the military threat, Saddam was left in power and probably executed any supporters of the West that could have stood up against him.
Since 1991 there have been further confrontations with Saddam, whether it was Human Rights issues(the Kurds), or even fear that he was building Weapons of Mass Destruction .
After 9/11 the US hit out like a wounded giant and believing Saddam had influence in the bombings found excuse to attack.
Bearing in mind Iraq would not be of any importance if it was not for the fact that they have oil and are therefore a strategic gain for control of the world.
The West have made several mistakes;
They supported and funded Saddam into power
They never got rid of him in 1991
In not getting rid of him in 1991 the Wests supporters who would have overthrown Saddam were executed.

So Iraq is a problem of the West's creation and is of such importance because of the oil, and holding control in the Middle East.
Also Saddam in defying the West, was becoming a figure that was finding much support from the Muslim extremists.

Ultimately its supposed to be about a free and democratic country but actually there are 2 things going on, oil control oil and you control the world.

Secondly Bush is a fundamentalist Christian in all but name and this whole things (war on terror etc) smacks of a Holy Crusade against the infidel........, the problem only exists to the extent it does because of American Foreign Policy and the need to control the masses by instilling a state of fear, the cold war is over so they cooked up this instead

Ultimately yes. Directly no.

To the Muslims who started the events that led to the Iraq war it is completely about religion. To those of us on the other side it is about fighting for freedom. If the Muslims have their way and end up winning then they will take away freedom of religion as well as other freedoms.

So to one side it is completely religious and to the other it is about freedom and religious freedom is part of that. Oil has a bit to do with it as well, but did not start the war.

anybody knew it was once unlawful whilst Blair twisted it and Conservatives supported the conflict on the 2nd. This was once the view of Lib-Dems for in any respect cases. Lord Goldsmith admitted it grew to become into now no longer authorized on the 2nd notwithstanding he grew to become into silenced Few right politicians like Robin cook dinner, Clair short and Galloway attempt to protest notwithstanding each individual, British fools listened to Blair. yet actuality must prevail.

Its purpose is to destabilize the region and make oil supplies uncertain. Since the short-term elasticity of demand for oil is very low, a small decrease in supply results in a disproportionately large increase in price (example: a 2% decrease in the supply might result in a 10% increase in price) resulting in more total revenue for the oil industry.

Even blondes can understand this one, girl.

It's for the oil, silly. There are 50-75 dictatorships/regimes on this planet at any given time, but we choose the one with the oil...hmmm...
