My boyfriend and I are into our 2nd year already, He just confessed today that he has a crush on his female officemate and he is jealous of the fact that his former officemate and this girl are dating right now... I don't know how to react since I dated girls before, like 4 years ago, I was 17 then... but he is now 27, never dated a woman before, never tried to have sex with one before, What is his intention of "the confession"? Is it really an infatuation or just admiration?... As much as I admire Natalie Portman

Yes. I think anyone can have a crush on anybody, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. It doesn't mean they are going to act on it.

A gay man can definitely have a 'crush' on a woman. It usually means that he has found someone he can talk to and confide with. However in this day and age, if he is truly gay, he will recognize what the feelings are and take no further action other than remaining good friends with her. Years ago (when I was young) homosexuality was never discussed and young gay men who found a girl who he felt understood him, would end up marrying her. This is why you find so many gay men of my generation were married and had families.
Your boyfriend probably feels that, now this girl is in a relationship, he will lose her as a friend. Just continue letting your partner know how much he means to you and if he truly loves you he will take no further action towards the girl. All the best to both of you/

Of course gay men can have crushes on women. Its the same thing wil heterosexuals, a man can appreciate another man for being attractive just the same as a woman can appreciate another woman for being attractive. And I think its just him saying, hey she's hot. Its the same with any other couple in a long-term relationship, you look. Not necessarly do you try whats on the menu, but you can look. I'm a very very happily married woman, but I can appreciate an attractive man and I tell my husband about, the same with him. If he sees a good looking female, he lets me know. Maybe you shouldn't worry about it and be glad that he loves/trusts you enough to tell you things like this. i'm assuming its not the first time he found a woman attractive.

Well, Talk with him! If you have been with each other for two years, you should be able to discuss these matters with him.
It could be a infatuation, maybe he is just wondering what your reaction was going to be, (Which we do not know), all you said is that you do not know how to react, what did you say to him about this when he brought this up. I really think you should be asking your partner this. Everyone has fantasies, it could be just that.
I adore Natalie Portman, good taste.

yeah, I get jealous sometimes of my best friends boysfriends. I hate the time they spend together. the closeness they have. The affection they show. Doesn't mean I am IN love with her or want to have sex with her. I just love her in a different way.

The answer is obviously a resounding YES. I hope this doesn't mean you'll be unkind to him. His intention with telling you is to open up to you about his feelings. Maybe he thinks the office mate is not good for her or something. Who knows. It probably is an infatuation, especially if he said it is.

But I believe that gay men and women form very strong friendships a lot of the time. This can spill over into a form of love that is similar if not the same as the love he feels with men.
