So there's some tactics and strategy involved, but so has every sport and that alone doesn't make it exciting. If a sport needs an entire day to play, and 3 or 4 whole days to complete a series, and people watching would need a book to read to pass the time, I'd say that the sport boring.

OK, go on then. Explain the subtleties and nuances. Are the book reading and various time passing activities part of the game?

I've got to say i used to agree with you but i dont anymore. i first started watching 20/20 cricket which only lasts about 3 hours for the whole game. you can go after work - have a few beers with friends and relax. you should try watching that first. then go onto the longer form of the game. Although i do have to say that some of the four or five day tests can get a little tiresome if there's not alot happening. Try the one day game first though, its a good way to just chill out!!!

I knwo that even if i told you a hundred times that its not boring, you probably wouldn't believe me. The truth is, it is actually one of the best sports around, and you really don't know what you are missing out on.
The edge of the seat feeling that you experience during those tense moments when your team need 3 runs of the last ball, and you have your hopes pinned on a Sachin or a Lara to make that happen....well i simply can't explain how exciting those moments are...far from boring!!
Maybe because it involves so many rules and techniques that people do not even bother to give it a chance. Sure, it is definitely a game which takes more time to understand that other sports but its worth it!! Pure quality. Make sure you watch next year's world cup, i'm sure that'll convince you how good the game is.

Basically cricket is only boring to those that dont understand the game, like any sport really.
If you want to get the fully entertaining side of cricket watch Twenty/20 matches, 3 hours is all it takes for a match to be completed, thats good for a cricket match.
Also a golfing event takes 4 days, do you find that boring? Its based on the same principle, and NFL, well that takes about 5/6 hours for a match, do you read a book to pass the time for that too?
Cricket like any sport is as fun as you make it :)

Cricket itself isn't a boring game. One Day cricket is a faster version of the same But ask someone who has played test cricket , he would tell you that there's not "Some Tactics" involved but a very tough mental exercise. Even the viewers know the frenzy cricket can whip up in people.

If you have to ask, you clearly won't understand the answer.
Are you by any chance a citizen of the US? Baseball - ha! American football - could bore anyone.
Possibly a football fan. Hmm, any sport which celebrates the subtle art of "taking a dive" is, frankly, crap. (Anyone see the world cup final? A "headbutt", which barely brushed the chest, floored a grown "man")
And so we can go on. Whatever rings your bell. Your game maybe won't stir my loins, but you can enjoy it. Maybe one day we'll get to watch Glen McGrath do what he does best, and you'll learn.

Buddy the passion comes form within...and who says you can't do anything in between a testmatch?!
I don't feel that I need to convince. Mostly the interest comes when your country is playing. And also in the worldcup. Look no one is bounding you to watch the whole match and not move?
Enjoy it properly, and if you cant seriously try 20 20...you'll like it better as its quicker and more active

Most people who don't have the mental capacity to appreciate the subtleties and nuances of the game, often find it boring.

have you ever sat through 90 minutes of end-to-end football with the score nil nil at the end? All sports have their high and low moments and games.
Someone take this person to Twenty:20 and give'em a few beers.

cricket is one of those games that you either find very boring, or very interesting
i love watching cricket, even a 5 day test match
go and buy a video of the "botham ashes" and watch that. if it doesn't convince you that cricket can be interesting, then please keep your opinion (you are entitled to it) and don't bother watching cricket (if you find it boring and watch it anyway, then i would suggest you have some masochistic tendencies)
