There are still some lizards that breathe fire - Steve Irwin did a program about them

I don't think unicorns as a species existed although occasionally a goat was born with only one horn.

This is a fascinating question.

I don't have a problem thinking that dragons, unicorns, and other interesting creatures may have existed. The Bible talks about Leviathan and unicorned beings. (Well, this may depend on your version and how it translates these ideas.)

Why are you thinking the Christians killed them off? Because they were "magical"? I really don't think there is anything historically to suggest that the Christians did this. I would guess that IF there were such things (and I don't think there is HUGE evidence here) they were killed off by preditors (maybe humans) or natural events.

It's fun to think of what may have been possible in the times before the record began, but I doubt magical is the word to describe those beings. If they were here, I think they were a purposeful piece of the creation story.

Great question.

Hi, classyjazzcr... Thanks for the footnote. I'm just citing sources as they appear in my research. Please feel free to click on the links and see what you bring up. Unicorns are mentioned in other passages, as well. A search of "unicorn" on www.Bible.com should bring up a variety of Biblical references.

Please read Job 41 (parts of passage below):
Job 41
1 "Can you pull in the leviathan [a] with a fishhook
or tie down his tongue with a rope? ...

10 No one is fierce enough to rouse him.
Who then is able to stand against me? ...

18 His snorting throws out flashes of light;
his eyes are like the rays of dawn.

19 Firebrands stream from his mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.

20 Smoke pours from his nostrils
as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.

21 His breath sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from his mouth. ...

31 He makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.

32 Behind him he leaves a glistening wake;
one would think the deep had white hair.

33 Nothing on earth is his equal—
a creature without fear.

34 He looks down on all that are haughty;
he is king over all that are proud."

Hello;
Yes, personnaly I do think that at one time there were dragons. Just look at the Kymodo Dragon! That is what he's called...the scientists named him, so don't blame me for that one!
I also believe in Unicorns (that they once exhisted). I mean, It's not proof, but I would like to think that they exhisted, but were playing and having too much fun to notice that the flood waters were rising, so they missed the ark (some say the ark alone is a mystery).

I belive that dragons once existed in this world. Also dragons arent killed by christians alone so dont blame it on them. Dragons are killed by HUMANS of different sects religions and beliefs because they thought dragons are evil (the huge wings, the fiery breath, the slitted eyes) It goes with the saying "Humans kill what they dont understand" which also applied to dragons and humans

Yep. Nowadays we call them dinosaurs. There are many records of dragons, not JUST "stories". There were old, chinese government job positions for "Dragon-keeper". Not EVERY dragon/dinosaur breathed (exhaled) fire.
