SImple solution:
1st: Log on as Administrator, or an account with admin rights.
Right click "My Computer" and select
Click on the "Advanced" tab.
Click the "Performance" button, then "Settings".
You should see a "Virtual Memory" option - click that and select "Change".
The factory standard size for your paging file (virtual memory) will be 384Mb. I normally set this to a minimum of 768Mb and a max of 1536Mb, so that is my recommendation. Never gave me any problems after that.
The error message you see should dissappear after the change.
One thing to point out though is make sure you have enough free space on your drive to accomodate the new size. If not, you may have to delete some files and/or uninstall some old programs.
Try also clearing any temporary internet files and cookies off the computer too. Right click Internet Explorer icon on desktop and select . You should see a section for Temporary Internet files in there, with the appropriate deletion buttons.
Hope that helps :)

When increasing the virtual memory (Check in increments), it is also worth running defrag, at least once per week.
You should also free up as much memory as possible. Get rid of unused icons on your desk top. Clear your temporary internet files and cookies (Windows folder). Get rid of any large packages that you do not use - ensuring that you have 30% of your drive as unused. Clear your e-mail folders. You might also look at a simple image on your desk top, rather than a complex, memory eating, photo.
Note: the first time that you run defrag, after all of this house keeping, it may take some time.
House keeping is the usual reason for memory errors. Also, if you only have a little amount of RAM, Windows, especially XP will eat into this quite considerably.
Hope this helps.

Minimise all windows so that you can see your desktop. Right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".
The System Properties window will pop up. Select the "Advanced" tab at the top of the window. In the "Performance" section, click on the "Settings" button.
Another window will pop up. Select the "Advanced" tab along the top and the bottom of the window now will show "Virtual Memory", with the total paging file size that has been set. This is the amount of diskspace Windows will use or can use to act as "virtual memory". Click on the "Change" button to find out how Windows manages this.
The thing to do is to make note of how much the maximum paging file size is for individual drives. Make sure that you have at least that much free space on those drives.

no virtual memory is page file used as a substitute for RAM.u cannot upgrade but however u could increase its space. u keep on getting such messages b,coz ur comp may be overloaded by performing too many operations at once as such the available page memory is been used for all those purposes. &if u try to run another programme there may not be enough page memory or virtual memory to carry out that operation (page memory is used when ur ram memory becomes insufficient, remember that). The remedy? try to deleted or uninstall or even close all those unnecessary programmes u r not using &make sure there is plenty of hard disk space as virtual memory derives from hard disk space

Adjusting the size of Virtual Memory size is only treating the symptom and not the disease. The disease you have is Insufficient Resources on your computer. If your PC was running pretty well in recent times then what you need to do is to tune it up a little.
If your PC is constantly using virtual memory instead of RAM, you most probably have too much running on your PC, and I would think your HD is in need of a serious clean up, among some other things. You will most probably realize lots of improvement if you simply do some maintenance on your PC.
Check out this response I wrote for a somewhat similar situation.

energetic memory makes use of RAM to keep issues that ought to be accessed frequently and directly. once you replenish your RAM, you start to apply the stressful stress. The stressful stress use is termed the digital memory and it rather is lots slower than RAM. while you're exceeding your digital memory (the quantity of stressful stress dedicated to application operations) it rather is a fantastically stable sign that your RAM length is carefully insufficient; no longer purely have you ever crammed your RAM yet you have crammed the emergency area (digital memory) which you have assigned for application operations. you have an exceedingly stable ought to get extra RAM put in on your gadget. you will locate that each little thing runs lots swifter and with much less freezing and crashes later on. escalate your RAM. in case you prefer to comprehend approximately RAM, ask a question and incorporate what your put in RAM is and what your memory use is often.

You just need to buy/install increased RAM. Your motherboard should have a spare slot for a chip to run alongside your current RAM chip (I am guessing it's still free coz otherwise you would know whats going on).
Head down to PC World or your local PC Shop and tell them what you are after and they will help you.
I can advise what to if you want to do all on your own, but would need further details, i.e. mother board capabilities, which style RAM chip required, RAM currently installed.

You have too many programs running. You probably have SpyWare.
You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster
Check your anti-virus status and run a scan.
If you have less than 256MB of RAM, then get more. Check your system at http://www.coastmemory.com

Probably your C: drive is full - see what you can get rid of - emptying temp folders and trashcans might help - also lowering the cache size of Internet Explorer - and properly uninstalling software you don't use - especially movies take up a lot of space.
