I agree, there are a lot of variables.

The minimum is a warning (if you are caught).

The maximum depends on what you did, who caught you, and who you are. If you are a foreigner (ie no US citizenship), you can get deported or homeland security can make your life a living hell.

A lawyer is needed to advise on this. Minimum is not what you should be worried about. Maximum is the problem. Get a judge that had bad night with wife and you will be sleeping with a cell mate.

I don't know about NY, but some places I know you can get right out by paying a small fine. You'll have a court date later though.

any fine and jail time for disorderly conduct is too much.
