Well, here's the REAL question.....would they even KNOW that it's alphabet soup? But to answer your question, no, I do not think that they do because the last time I checked, alphabet soup does not come with a "spelling check" dumpling. I wonder if dyslexic people have problems with alphabet soup as well....or would it be aphlateb suop...........hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....................

I think that people who are illiterate can still identify letters of the alphabet. I think about people from other countries that are not familiar with the roman alphabet that we use in the western world. They would be the ones that would look at alphabet soup and have no idea as to what is going on.

I think that even non-readers at least have some awareness of letters, but the meaningfulness of the alphabet is lost because they do not know the "code"; that letters correspond to sounds or how to apply these rules to reading and writing. Anyway, I think that most of us would just eat alphabet soup without a second thought whether we were literate or not. Sometimes food's just food.

i never got the full effect of alphabet soup, there were always loads of letters missing or mangled beyond recognition! They tasted nice anyway :)
