I've been welling up, listening to the Glastonbury 2003 performance of Love on BBC4 recently. It wasn't so much the fact that Arthur Lee (their singer) died recently as the sheer beauty of the music. Are many under-40s out there into the music of Love? I would also like to know if you like early Floyd; with Syd Barrett (also recently deceased). Does that psychedelic music of the 60s live on in people's hearts still?

Of course. As a foundation bands that are popular today the prog rock era of the sixties/seventies was of vital importance. The majority of (decent) bands will quote Floyd, Zep etc as their major influences.
Also, in my instance (24) i grew up listening to such bands because it was from my dads generation and obviously he continued to play them. As a baby the best way to send me to sleep was to go out in the car with my dad with Zep on full blast. That's his excuse anyway....so yes, definately lives on in the hearts of todays youth.

Some of the best music was in the 60's - 80's. I am not under 40 but around lots who are, and they all are liking that music more and more. They still like the today music, but the romantic ones too. We went to a Christmas party at the Church and the music that was played was in the 60's, and they danced to the romantic ones, and wore the long dresses like they did then.

I am 22 and love all of Pink Floyd's music and Syd Barretts music. Thats the only music I like, though, from that time period.

I used to love 60's music, as I used to be a modette in my early teens, back in the 80's and their was a whole group of us that just loved listening to 60's music, as well as my parents being from that era, they used to play it all the time too, so you tend to like whatever music you are brought up on. But my genre's changed in my late teens, to the opposite end of the scale, to hip hop, rap, rnb and so on. Is now known as noise to my parents and probably a few million more.

One of my favourite films portraying the 60's has to be Quadraphenia and another one would be The Wanderers.

Yes they do, both my sons have always loved 'old' music, right from childhood, I was the same as a child too, music has played a big part in all our lives. My youngest son is mad about John Lennon and many other bands from the sixties. I myself was brought up on a very varied diet of music, like country and big band music as well as things like 70s glam rock. Which again my boys like.

I have a suggestion, Matte P:

If you sincerely love the music of that era, which many do, why not make an effort to keep it alive in people's hearts, instead of leaving it to chance?

I love the blues, and the great artists of the R&B era of the sixties; and I do my part to make sure this great music is not forgotton. One way to reach a lot of people is through Yahoo 360 & Yahoo Groups.

Let me know when you are up & running so I can check out your Flower-Power sites!

Born '69 so almost qualify as someone who was born after that era! I love the music! You'll not get many real musicians nowadays.(Nearly) everyone now has to look good and needs to mime through lack of talent and do covers of music from before their time since they know it was music written to last. Lyrics, melody, natural talent - not much of that around now. Talent won the fans over then, now it's just how good you look in front of a camera.
