Is it an affair if you are talking to an old boyfriend or girlfriend once or twice a week on the phone, but not meeting them anywhere, but having phone sex, without expressing love for one another?

I don't think that at the beginning it would be considered an affair, but however if you keep doing it, it well may end up that way. You see, u have had a personal relationship with the person, physically, emotionally maybe even spiritually. So if u continue to feed the relationship, it is only logical that u will not be able to cut off the emotions/ links that u shared with them, possibly leading u to feel drawn to them, and then even to cheat. Just remember, cheating begins in the mind, if u are having intimate thoughts of any kind towards your ex, then yes, u r having an affair. My advice, move on. If it didn't work the first time, don't be fooled to think it will work the second time. You deserve the best, and that maybe the reason y u r with the guy/ chick u r with now.

Does your partner know about these phone calls? Would they be upset if they did know? There are emotional affairs. If you don't think you shouldn't be doing it because it would hurt the other person- then stop. Think about how you would feel if they were talking to an ex behind your back??

It's not an affair technically but it is dishonest and indecent. You need to talk to your partner about this and try to find a way for them to fulfill whatever needs are being met by having phone sex. If you love someone, that person is your primary concern and you should look to them to fulfill your sexual needs not to anyone else.

I think that yes, it is an emotional affair. You should be talking to your mate, not someone you've already set aside.

Of course it is. Unless you and your b/f said "Hey--let's go steady, and that means I can have phone sex with exes whenever I want" --which I'm guessing isn't the case--then you are breaking the rules. ie:cheating. Don't be bloody silly. You know that!Don't you??

Its not an affair but its cheating, your partner should know you're doing that wwith your old girlfriend/boyfriend.

Would you be happy for your boyfriend to speak to his ex like this? If I found out my b/f was doing that I would be very angry, and feel very betrayed. I would view that as being unfaithful, yes.
