I was sleeping...6 1/2 months pregnant at the time, and my sister-in-law called from her law office in Washington to tell me that she was OK. I had no idea what she was talking about and she told me to turn on the TV, didn't matter what channel. That was before the second plane hit the second WTC tower. That was also before all of the phone service on the east coast was jammed and you couldn't dial anyone.

It was a tough day to deal with in so many ways for alot of people, and I am so very thankful that I didn't have to suffer a personal loss as so many others did that day. I felt the pain of everyone, and I will NEVER forget watching it happen :-(

I was working from home that day and weirdly my pc at home blew up so I went downstairs, switched the tv on and saw news coverage after the first plane hit. I stayed glued to the tv and watched the second plane hit. I don't think I have ever been so horrified and shocked in my life as it unfolded. The sheer horror, human tragedy and revulsion toward the people who could do such a thing was all mixed up and powerful.

I was working in a hospital in a maternity unit, and there was a woman giving birth. I remember thinking we needed to repopulate the 3000 people that had died.
My daughter was born on 29 September one year later

I was on duty in my local fire station- South Africa- when we heard the news. You have no idea what went through our minds at the time. We actually had a meeting this morning and had a moment of silence for the those who lost their lives on that day.

Speaking to my cousin on the telephone, she lives in Australia, for some reason I just felt very emotional and wanted to hear her voice, while we were talking her daughter ran in to tell what had happened and we both cried so much we had to end the conversation until later in the day, it was an horrible day for those poor people that lost their lives and my heart still breaks for them.
