The fear of public speaking is one of the most common fears to all cultures.
So it's normal.

Most people when you give a speech want you to succeed as much as you want to succeed. They are not the enemy.

When I first started giving presentations in class and was scared my mum told me to look at everyone as if they were in their underwear or their pjs. We're all pretty vulnerable in our underwear and not so scary!

Make sure you've rehearsed your presentation so you can almost say it without looking at your notes. When you're really passionate and involved about a subject you're speaking on it shows and your nerves get less.

Before you start , take two or three big breaths in and out. Smile and then start in.

You'll do fine .

My friends and family couldn't believe I wanted to be a teacher because I didn't like speaking in public and to me public was about 3 people.

But as I was going through college, taking chemistry for example, I kept thinking to myself, this guy has forgotten more chemistry than I'll ever know but I could get these concept across so these other kids could understand what the heck this guy is talking about. He knew his stuff but couldn't get it across. So I eventually became a teacher. To make things worse I was 21 when I started teaching and I had 17 and 18 year old students in my chemistry classes. Talk about an intimidating situation.
I was so nervous I could hardly walk into the classroom.

But what helped me the most was knowing my material. I kept thinking what if someone asks me a question I can't answer? Well, as it turned out, they didn't know enough chemistry to be able to ask a hard question. But nonetheless I knew my material and that makes all the difference in making it through or stumbling and bumbling. So my advice would be make sure before you go into the classroom be prepared for that day. Nothing beats preparation and of course discipline. With those two things you'll make a great teacher.

Have a mantra " I can do this, I am good at this" and keep saying it before you start. Take deep breaths and keep carm throughout.

Make sure you know what you are talking about. Perhaps even practice on freinds, your dog or in front of the mirror beforehand so that you know it pretty well.

I find that talking to crowds is much easier when you are well prepared and know what you are doing.

Focus on the contents of the presentation.and nowadays, many technical supports are available while doing presentation so what is the hitch. be techno friendly and enjoy ur own presentation.

well, i'm shy too but I've been exposed to situations where up to a thousand people can see me. I've learned that taking a deep breath and just saying, "screw what the other's think" really helps... If you wear glasses, you might want to take them off because it helps blur everybody together... good luck!

Ah.. you are not the only one shy.. but then we all have to face our fears and win over them one by one. Have faith in yourself.. go over your presentation many times so that you are familiar with it. That should give you enough confidence.

Psssttt.. there is one more trick which works for me...... i think people in front of me are fools ;P

when u presenting some thing in front of people never look into there eye but look just above their eye so that u don't loose ur confident and other will think u r confident as they will feel that u r looking into their eye.
best of luck

Practise is so you know it off by heart, then while you're doing the presentation just think that you are just practising it again & they are just friends listening to you & they aren't really listening to you anyway
