Can A Job hold a persons writing skills against a person because that person doesn't have very good writting s

I work in Missouri and live in Illlinois. It is 6 month review time and the last two reviews I was told I wasn't receiving a raise partly on brecause of the self assessments we fill on wasn't good enough. I haven't received a raise since March of 2002 and have been with the conpany for 6 years and feel like they are because of this. What is the law about this sort of thing.

This is the only time we have to do any type of wring skills some Computer Operators are senior operators and they do a recap for the week but I am not a senior operator.

These self assessment started in 2002.

Also can they fire me because of the this?

I have a mild handicap in my right side called CP (Cebral Pulsy).

Do you do a lot of writting at your job? If you are often writting information for clients or other co-workers, I could see how that might effect work (if they can't understand what you are tryin to relay...usually causes complications) If not...then that sounds like a total bullshit line. Have they offered you any help with solving whatever problem that keeps coming up? Managers are supposed to help their employees be better employees...thats why they do review...to help you be a better asset to them. Otherwise...why bother having you around.

The company has a right not to give you a raise if you can't perform the duties of the job, including writing skills. As evidenced by your question your spelling, grammar, and sentence structure are very weak. Ask your employer if they can recommend a writing seminar to help you out - that way they'll know you're interested in improving these skills.

If you feel this is in error, perhaps you should start looking for work elsewhere. We are all paid based on our ability to perform.

Based on what you wrote here, your writing skills definitely need improving. Maybe you should be glad you still have the job, and take some classes to help you improve yourself instead of asking others to overlook your lack of skills. if you don't have the skills required to receive a raise, you should work to improve these skills. the company isn't going to give you a raise unless you deserve one. you're lucky they are still employing you.
