The truth

2006-09-10 22:56:42 · answer #1 · answered by Dazman 3 · 2 0

At 14 I'm surprised ha hasn't found it out himself. Tell him the truth. Tell him that it is when people become curious about how their reproductive organs work, and in boys, it means touching or stroking their penis. (I'm trying to sound as diplomatic as I can, without being vulgar!) Tell him that it is perfectly natural to touch himself, and that any little leakages is a perfectly natural reaction to his touching.

To be honest, he may have experimented a little already, and is probably wondering if it is normal to do so.

Tell him the truth. chances are many of his friends know & if you make something up that he repeats infront of his friends he will look & feel stupid. He will also be angry with you & it will occur to him that you lie.

Then get yourself down to Waterstones or any other good bookshop & buy a book. There are LOADS of them so pick whichever you thinks is 'best'. You may want to talk to him about it/read it with him BUT dont put it on the bookshelf, leave it in his room so he can read it as & if he wants.

Tell him the truth. He probably has some idea about it anyway, as most boys talk about sex with their friends at school etc. I think it is important that he is given the facts and doesn't have to rely on the myths and rumours that inhabit the playground.

When a child is old enough to ask, they are old enough to hear the truth.

Especially since when they ask you, they kind of already know the asnwer but are opening that magical doorway to conversation that rarely opens in teen years. Make the best of it.

It is better to let your son know now, he can trust you and he will come to you when it is really important. this is the beginning of building a 'new' trust with a kid thats starting to grow up.

Good Luck.

I find it hard to believe that a 14 year old boy does not know what masterbating is??? they learn sex education in school now and should of learnt that by now.
answer his question honest and truthfully. and tell him about the birds and the bees while your at it.

This is a tricky one... For me, my parents told me too much for my own good. Sometimes it's best for the child to find out on their own. If your son really wants to know, tell him in the best way so that there's no bad sociological impact. Keep it simple and understanding.

Tell him the truth. It's when you touch your own genitals because it feels good and that it's normal to explore your own body and everyone has done it or does it now. There's really nothing else to say, he'll figure out the rest.

It's your own boy. Give him the honest truth. I know I would have wanted my own dad to tell me. The last thing I should have done is gone to some stupid kid who gave me all the wrong advise.

I say tell him the truth too. Don't know if you're his mother or father (it doesn't matter) but explain to him what it is, why it's done, what are the pros and cons (I am pretty sure he knows what sex is, at that age...) - but don't demonstrate :))

If you are shy... locate some info on the Internet and give him a number of links to read up (my mom explained things to me, _and_ gave me books to read).
