Some women I have known only seem to be able to speak about their partners and kids. Has this ever happened to you, or are these women only doing this around men?

Depends on the women. Could be that they are trying to show they're taken, maybe their lives revolve around their families, maybe they're trying to bore you so you take the hint and leave them alone.

It really depends on the circumstances, if ur work buddies then maybe that all their life is about. I know women like this. As a women without kids I find it gets boring very quickly.
I also know a lot of men complain when dating all the women talk about is their ex's
Some people just dont have a great deal of social conversation in their repertoire.
If it really bothers u, dont get into conversations with these women, or try to steer the conversation onto different subject, such as did u watch that documentary last night? Isnt it amazing what that scientist just discovered etc

As some women dont work and bringing up children and looking after the family has been the main part of their lives for a number of years, its not suprising this is their main topic of conversation. For most women, children are the most important part of their lives too. Men seem to be able to pidgeonhole their lives better and in so doing..concentrate easier on matters other than their nearest and dearest.

no ,it happens with women too. it is something they may have in common.
basically it is all their mind centres on( which to a certain degree is important ), or they just don't know how to talk about other things.they become so involved with childrearing that they don't persue any of their other interests, either from lack of time or being to nackered.
we could ask why a majority of men ,talk about sport when together.
perhaps if they had a more intimate relationship with you, they will share their ideas and thoughts about other matters.

Did it ever cross your mind that these women loved their lives so much because loving and looking after their families was the greatest reward and they wanted to share this with you? Or are you just disappointed that they didn't find you interesting enough to want to talk about you?

Oh yes. That's the reason I could never stand these "Mother and Toddler" groups when my children were younger. Too many women in one room, all talking about chidren, nappies, bottles, dummies, and moaning about their husbands. Shudder.
