Replication.

Mitosis is the process of cellular division itself in which somatic cells are formed.

Before the dividing of the cell, however, the amount of the genetic material doubles. This insures that both new cells receive the same diploid number of chromosomes as that of the mother cell before the division. The process is called replication.

Mitosis and Meosis. Mitosis is for somatic (or skin, stomach etc. cells) and meosis is for sex cells like spems and ovules.
