I think people do have a "morbid" fascination with murder, and it is sickening
sometimes. I think it IS because we are not like those kinds of people and
we want to understand why they did it ? How did they grow up ? Is it cause
their brains weren't developed normal ? Well it's a very complicated issue...
But personally I have read and seen some very disturbing acts of humanity.
I watch A & E alot. I guess even though it's horrible acts of violence, I feel that
it helps me to know what to look for . Not to be naive. It helps people think
about their own safety, and how to prevent something like that from happening to us or our loved ones. FBI , Detectives, Medics, Doctors, etc.,..
have to deal with this reality everday....Maybe by watching a show like CSI or
whatever, Court tv....some person will decide to get into that career. It happens all the time !! So, I think a mature person can watch this stuff and
get alot of info. But is it voyeristic to watch people suffering and dead ? Yes.
Cause it is human curiosity. But, then u gotta deal with the real fruit cakes out
who get off on it. Such is life. The good, the bad, and ugly.

You are certainly not alone.
I recently scared my psychology class (& tutor) when we were discussing serial killers. He was showing pictures & I was able to name them & say their particular method of killing.
I have many books on serial killers and I can sit there and argue the nature nurture discussion all day.
I don't think it is morbid curiosity, it's fascination with the abnormal.
I do prefer real life books & films rather than made up ones though. You can learn a lot from reading their autobiographies - what made them tick, how they felt whilst killing etc.
Love it :-)

I also read any true crime book I can get my hands on, I'm always interested in the things that people do to each other and how they get caught. I just finished reading "The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers" by Michael Newton, it was very interesting.
Natural Born Killers is one of my favorites. Seeing Mallory kick Tom Sizemore all over her cell while screaming "How do you like me now, %$%$&*@*!" is one of the best scenes from any movie.

I used to read this collection put out by Time, it was all about serial killers. They had a book for people like Gacy, Bundy, Dahmer, Gein, etc. It's fascinating. I think that as long as it evokes emotion from you, and it's not making you like, horny or something crazy then it's normal. People like bad news, we always have. Look at the tv, it's all child murderers and bank robbers and knife fights, and school shootings.

i don't mean to sound crazy but, there is a book called "the encyclopedia of serial killers" by Michael Newton. He has covered and listed all of the famous ones. I got it as a Christmas gift when my kid sister knew that I read a lot of true crime books.

Yeah, glad to know I'm not a weirdo, lmao. Whats funny is I can't stand violence (especially in a movie and I'm going to assume Natural Born Killers has alot) I like to read books and watch real crime shows (Cold case files, stuff like that) Good question~

First of all, Natural Born Killers sucked, that was the worst movie, right beside Pulp Fiction. Second of all, as long as you're not going out and murdering people yourself I guess you'll be alright.

Face it, you were made for the 'true crime' section of your nearest bookstore. Lots have this interest. That's why many study criminology in college. Forensic criminal shows sure are popular too. Read 'Crime and Punishment' by F. Dostoyevsky if you are interested in the criminal mind. Some think he was the best novelist of the 19th century. Its great.

Yeah, I'm less about hearing every gory detail and more about hearing more on this person's life and what lead them to do it. It's just fascinating how the human mind works in both good and bad ways.

Sounds like you should be a psychologist with your interest to see how others tick. Personally, I don't like murder stories.
I mean it in a kind way. I know people who have interest make good jobs at that or even policeman as they can get into murderers minds. I don't think it is a weird that you find interest in it.
