Well, it is good that you can get help from Yahoo Answers but I feel you should go out and make some good friends too. Real, good friends will be there for you physically. That is what life is all about.

Hey, there are real people on the other end of those questions and answers, after all. Yahoo! Answers is a communication device; the friends are the people you communicate with.
Not everyone who uses this site is a worthwhile friend, of course, as you rather crudely point out. ("Idiots" is now a copyright-protected term for a handbook series, isn't it?) But as to getting advice about personal problems, it is perhaps better to go to us relative strangers, who would not know you if we passed you on the street, rather than to friends who may not be impartial in the analysis of the question, and who would then know where you are vulnerable. Or who might gossip about it to others.
Just remember, if anyone you know personally asks you what your nickname is and what your avatar looks like, you are then sharing all these questions with them.

I think sometimes friends hold back from being brutely honest and hopefully would not offer some of the replies. When we know someone it is difficult to give objective advice, most advice comes from our own personal experiences and beliefs, so therefore all advice is touched with a certain amount of personal gain. With yahoo answers you can reach a wide spectrum of people and therefore you find an answer that you like.
You should still aim to have a few friends you can trust though, sadly yahoo.answers can't hold your hand or give you a hug, when you loose close family or go through a serious illness.

Well, friend could not be replaced by anything... the presence of someone who likes you, understands you, and supports you... still yahoo answers are a good thing, because you meet very very different people, you have to cope with ther difference and think in this perspective... firend are rarely this way.
You should learn to love the particular character of people, not just their statements and thoughts. There is much good experience in sharing someone's feelings, emotions, presence as I said! GO and find some friends, but be back soon to tell us here how do you do!

nothing is good in excess, but if done perhaps everynow and again i believe that this site can be helpful and reassuring to someone who has problems with socialising, as you can pick up communication skills in a safe environment where most people are intelligent and thoughful enough to give some comfort to others who might be distrustful.
you could though think about maybe just attending an evening class or group once a week, and if you still feel unsure ask a member of your family to go with you. maybe look for a martial arts group (tai chi?) where you can both shape up and gain confidence too?

Yes it's ok. But you should have friends around too. I just found this site 4 days ago and I think I have laughed and enjoyed myself more in the last 4 days than I have in the last 6 months. It's a stress reliever for me. And I get advice for somethings that I don't want to ask friends or relatives.

I use Yahoo Answers for the same thing. I do have friends that I hang out with but Yahoo is just someone with a different opinion about my problem or solving a question in general.

Yahoo Answers is a fun place to go.Some answers are insightful, funny, etc. The opposite is also true. Here as in real life some you can trust some you can't But in no way can it be a replacement for real friendship. Do yourself a favor go out into the real world and make a friend.Don't use Y.A. to hide away.

I think it is fine. Atleast you know you are getting honest answers here too. People take what you give them and respond to it. It also means you have to be being honest with yourself to truly get helpful answers here. However this is the perfect enviroment to do that.
I would not say it is unhealthy. Just dont spend hours here every day lol Of course if you were doing that, real life would be the least of your worries. So cheer up, get a cup of coffee and relax ;)

It can be a welcome distraction if you are bored or lonely, but it won't make the problem go away. If it helps, turn the pc off and visit your friends, family and loved ones.
Or just go out for the day into town and appreciate the smiles of strangers. Not everyone is a scumbag. You do get the odd diamonds among the gravel.
