What other reasons would you use besides not being able to get online for technical reasons.

The problem with the internet is that anyone can post their garbage and to a non-expert it looks like serious academic work

At least in the library you can get peer-reviewed articles from reputable publishers.

My rule of thumb is that if I need something beyond a standard encyclopedia entry, a visit to the library is in order so that I can look through the best material available.

If I am researching something or someone I find the library has more reliable current information and If I want a question answered I can always ask the trusted librarian for help.

Most instances, actually, unless I was researching something really current (which I rarely am). My reason would be as simple as this--the library is fun and I like books. :D

Well there are lots of archives that are not available on line.

Old newspaper details. Some old Census data etc.

Also you could argue that you want to check that the original source does exist to make sure it is authentic and not a made up reference that someone referred to someone else who referred to someone elses reference.
