earlier this morning i asked under the heading JUST A SIMPLE QUESTION, about the virtues of god v the devil and who was more evil, at a glance it has recieved a good response and healthy debate, please feel free to add your views if you hav"nt already done so ....... here then is another one to debate, why do people believe in ghosts or spirits of the dead ( i dont include poltegeists in this as i believe it is an undiscovered energy) my arguement is that i believe anyone who reckons they have seen a ghost is either exaggerating the truth or totally mistaken, there has yet to date been no real significant proof either in the many programmes on the subject or clear photographic evidence. also i have seen good evidence that psychic mediums and spiritualists work with trickery rather than souls of the deceased.i think ghosts were invented originally to keep people away from certain places to scare them off like an early form of security device,do you agree disagree or what do you think

The belief in ghosts dates back to prehistory, the ages of tribalism, and it is something that has kept in trdition just as many other things... The reason is, people st that time did not looked at the world as one whole, they did not differentiated between humans, animals and things, so everything for themwas a human, and a spirit, which is always the same no matter in what form. An evidence for this is that in almost every tribe, the chief, or shaman, or whoever is the religious leader claim to have this power to turn himself into some animal or something else (a sun, a wind, to change the weather and so on...). Thus ( i will keep myself for being more wordy) people started to believe that human spirit do not dissappear after death but change the form of its existence... hence spirits after death....

Yes i believe in ghosts. If you know about God you will read "The father the son and the holy ghost". The three are one in the same.
I am not afraid of a ghost, I have one living in my apt. I have not seen him for a while but i have seen him more than once. I know what i have seen, i do not have a concern about your opinion, no offence. So to answer your question; "I disagree". These people pray on the ones who are looking for answers. The pore people who will believe any thing. These phycodic people are fake and only play off coincidence. God will not give any body the power to predict the future. In fact, God warns us about this kind of person. Stay clear, don't fall for their deception! Watch Montell Williams when he has that woman who claims to "have the power". Watch every thing she does, take notes. You will see how she gets her answers. Kinda like that guy from the TV program, "The other side" who, might i remind you, is no longer on the air. He would pull up names untill some one said "yes, that was my mothers/fathers/bro....'s name"
And be aware of the fools who claim "The Da-ven-chee code is real". To sum it up, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to pick out certain words and put them in an order and claim a story out of nothing. If that is the case the standard Dictionary has a code of its own. It's called the "Da-Todd-chee" code. WOW i feel famous already!
In just, you can and will believe in what you will, i will not try to stop you or talk you out of. Your decision is YOUR decision you make it you live with it.
Godspeed, Todd

I believe that ghosts and other such visions are seen by people on a different concious state that the rest of the time either that or they are hallucinations!

Some people however, have convinced themselves that such things do exisit and so they think they see them when they see something else that could be a ghosts.

Robin Hood Prince of thieves showed the good example of your theory with the ghosts being invented to keep people away from places. Where they had the wind chimes hung in the trees and people thought it was a haunted forest!! Remember that was based years ago so forgive them for believing it!

On the contrary, I believe that many people who report having seen ghosts are actually telling the truth. This doesn't necessarily mean that ghosts exist but simply that certain types of people have experienced a phenomenen of some type. There are people who will convince themselves that a location has a ghost or spirit and will then assume that there is a possibility that they are going to see this ghost. Add a spooky location and extended periods of searching and there is a good chance that certain people will experience a self induced hallucination. They are actually seeing a ghost but it has been self invoked.

I think you are taking a far too simplistic view of the supernatural. The tough thing about the supernatural is that it is, well, supernatural or standing apart from the natural world as we currently understand it.

If the supernatural does somehow 'exist' and there are people who can sense it, their experience of these unseen existences would be the only 'proof' we could ever possibly have.

Nonetheless, I've never experienced the supernatural so I tend to be skeptical. But in principle you cannot rule it out.

Absence of proof is not always proof of absence, especially in "spiritual" items !
It is worth taking efforts to improve perception level beyond the sense organs, and then deciding about it. Just consider, people have been believing in this for many centuries, and the doubt too has been as old as the belief. Does not the Scientific temper in a person afford to consider an obvious possibility of "DIFFERENT" levels of perception among the believers versus doubting ones !

You’re a very naive person who watches too much sci-fi!
God is not evil and if you study the bible you will realise this, though the bible is not my ideal of God, as I am not Christian, though I have read and listened and extract the reality from the suspicious and the fairytale ideals of what people believe in. I'm a Pagan as where my ancestors through 5000 yrs of history before the church swallowed them up.

God gave us freewill it is a choice to be either, be it good or be it evil. God does not condone all of which sin is created, that is why the 10 commandments where written by God for us to abide by...Maybe you should learn them.

As for (the devil) Lucifer (his true name) he is a fallen angel that was thrown from Heaven by God for his jealousy at the creation of mankind, whom God revered so much and loved more than the Angels who where, and are his servants. Lucifer was one of these…
And in his vanity and jealousy sought to overthrow the throne of God, thus he was thrown from Heaven, disfigured as what we refer to as a Demon and sent to wander the underworld for all eternity, where he created his Kingdom of Hell!

All I know is that if you cannot reach out to yourself and feel comfortable in your own skin, discover your meaning in this world and the truth of your own existence, then you my friend have allot of self realisation to uncover...its called the soul

The body is but a mere vessel from this world to another, and you cannot dismiss worldwide fact of such phenomena in regards to the paranormal. I suggest you go to the most haunted house in Britain and spend a night and ask yourself in the morning if there is no such thing as “Ghosts!”

The spurs stink and I think that David R. sold his soul, and the husband of the desperate house wife needs to find Christ. I'm sure that with all of the trouble finding out why SA. won so many times that it has to weigh on your conscience being a Spurs fan, It has baffled alot of us. And for sure If I were you I'd be wondering if "creatures from beyond" haunted me for liking the Spurs. Maybe with that in mind the demons of another championship will help "U" find peace in your life. ha ha ha.....

I disagree. I never ever believed in them before, however, in the past year I have seen evidence of the existence of spirits.

I think you need to keep an open mind because just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

I've seen more evidence to disprove ghosts than to prove them so i have to fall to the non believers side of the fence.
