I know how hard it is to be a pilot. But I still want to be. I am 199cm tall and I am just afraid that will be a problem. Is my height going to be a problem?
~Thanks for your answers~

If I am not mistaken, you are several inches over the height limit for American military pilots. I don't know about other countries, such as England, but considering the limitations of a cockpit, I am guessing you are too tall for other countries, as well.

As for commercial pilots, I have heard that the height limit is greater than that for military pilots, as there is more room in a commercial cockpit than in a military craft. However, I am not sure what that limit might be. I do know one person whose husband got his pilot's license only to find he cannot get work as a pilot, but it was not because he is too tall, but rather because his legs and lower body are much longer than his arms and upper body. Apparently he does not have the right "fit" for a commercial plane.

I would say your best bet is to contact whoever you would like to work for in the future and ask them about it. If you are thinking of military training, contact a recruiter, and ask them about height limitations. If you want to be a commercial pilot, contact the hiring office for several big airlines and see what they have to say.

Remember there is nothing which says you cannot get a pilot's license because of your height. It might restrict your career choices, but if you really want to fly, you can still do that, even if you don't get paid for it.

No. Maybe you'd be tall for the airplane/cockpit and be hitting your head against the ceiling or doorways alot. But other than that, as long as you have the qualifications to be one and be able to see through the window, there's no real reason your height would be a problem.
