Both chemotherapy and radiotherapy can kill off the ova in a woman's ovaries. For this reason many oncology centres now offer to harvest ova so that a woman can get pregnant later by IVF

Yes, yes, and yes-sometimes. While chemo can make you sterile, do not rely on it as birth control.

I worked for many years in a large cancer center, and one month on one unit alone we had three pregnancies among couples who had been told the chemo would likely make the patient sterile, but obviously did not.

Different chemo drugs have different reproductive risks, which should be discussed with the physician. There are options to preserve the possibility of children, like harvesting and storing eggs or embryos before treatment, or sperm storage for men. When radiation is needed, sometimes the ovaries can be moved to safer locations to protect them.

Every patient is different, but I have known a great many women who had chemo and later had perfectly normal pregnancies and healthy babies. One patient had a healthy baby after rigorous, strong chemo and later an heart transplant and antirejection drugs, in fact. Some drugs are more likely to cause genetic damage than others, so be sure to ask about the drugs in a particular case.
