In America, our focus has been lost. We care too much about who is getting married, divorced, who is in rehab, who is coming out, who said this, that, etc. Why are we so obsessed with the famous? What are the issues that we should be focusing on instead? I mean, is it really any of our business that Jessica or Nick has a new lover? Or that this person got arrested? Or whatever? Don't they deserve privacy? Isn't it wrong to make the sins of the famous a headline? Why do we do this? When are we going to realize that we are destroying our youth because of this? What are you going to do about it?

It seems people like to see others fail in "whatever". They are at the top and making it (the famous) so why not wait and see how fast they fall? It is human nature and it takes work on one-self to say," who cares"?, The media knows what people are reading, will read, continue to read and we are making them rich. Between TV, radio, magazines, net, newspapers....i have tried very hard not to believe in what is printed the first time around or the second time around or.........until they get the truth out....when is that? Then i will pay attention to the news.....after all the hoopla is gone.

I think that it is terrible the way that the media hound these people. Some people are more obsessive than others but we all have people that we admire and follow through their careers, if only briefly. I don't think it's because we are nobodies but when you enjoy someone's work and then find out something about them that reminds you of yourself, you feel like you have an affiliation with them. In this way it is almost like you know them even if they don't know you, like a onesided friendship. I don't pay attention to tabloids because they are simply filling pages. Wrong doings by celebs are most often blown right out of proportion. Noone is perfect and rather than judging on these grounds, it should be a comforting reminder that these people are only human. If I have kids I will not be promoting them to have role models that are simply famous but people that have actually achieved something great. Can you imagine how many 10 year olds are going to look back in 10 years and be embarassed that Paris was their idol?

We kinda live vicariously through them..Their lives seem so much more exciting, more glamorous than any of us would ever dream of. We probably all have a 9 to 5 job, or school, with bosses and teachers we hate; kids at home who are always yelling and causing trouble; bills we need to pay; groceries we need to shop; just LIFE you know..
and then, there are those apparently perfect, beautiful people with seemingly no care in the world. We can talk about them, love them, hate them....escape reality for awhile ( and I can't escape it if I'm thinking about that poor baby stranded in New Orleans)
It's not just the youth you know, it's human beings..Even in High school, you had that "popular" group you always wanted to emulate, or you hated but you always talked about.

'cause that's what they are for - to entertain bored crowds of ordinary people. plus they want publicity, because being famous gets you almost everywhere and they are people feeding on attention, no matter what they say
and also - girls can feel better knowing that some rich, famous blondie was dumped by her bf just like any other ordinary girl

Not only in america, i think the same problem persists in INDIA too.The only reason i could find is that they are the 'celebrities'.The word itself explains it all. They are famous everywhere. If people stopped being obsessed with them, then then 'being-a-celebrity' becomes meaningless.

Simple, because most people live in fantasy land where they live their lives through these famous people. They find satisfaction in their going-ons.

Because we pay them a lot of money and want to see what they are doing with it on their own time.
