My husband and I just moved to Germany. We are saving money for our first adventure in Europe, where should we go? What should we see there? Please answer this Q only if you have actually traveled there.

Well, since I have lived in Germany and have travelled from there, I feel I can give some helpful advice.

To the North:
Oslo Norway (viking history, open air museum, castle), Flam Norway (fjords, hiking), Stockholm Sweden (royal palace, City Hall (where they award the Nobel prizes))
Ribe Denmark (oldest settlement in Denmark, night watch tour).

To the East:
Krakow Poland (Wawel castle, near Auschwitz, Maria Church), Prague Czech Republic (architecture, beautiful scenery)

To the South:
Bern Switzerland (romantic city, close to the Alps, close to cheese factories) Zurich Switzerland (lake cruises, chocolate factory tour), Florance Italy (Duomo, Art museums including Michelangelo's David), Rome Italy (Vatican City, St. Peter's basilica, Coliseum)

To the west:
Colmar France (France's version of Venice, market), Luxembourg City Luxembourg (Museum, the Royal palace, the caves under the city), Strasbourg France (UN buildings, zoo, river walks).

There are also cheap airlines (e.g. ryanair, jestgo) that can take you to places such as the UK, Ireland, Turkey, Spain, etc. It might be even cheaper than by car or train!

That's just a taste.

Start with Spain, then to drive to France, and on to the UK.

If you are not a big fan of driving (like me) I would travel by train and not by air so that you can actually look around and interact with people.

You can try to work Italy in between as well.
