His friend had said that he had always wanted to go in a freaky way, with his lifestyle he probably meant something with wildlife. Croc or stingray they both would had been freaky deaths, but I think the stingray would had been his choice, because it is very rare to actually be killed by one, and was more unexpected than a croc.
Also with his passion and hard work he dedicated to crocs, being killed by one may have given them a lot of negative publicity, never mind the questioning of how much of an expertise he was.
Finally, his daughter Bindy has been following in her father's footsteps, being killed by a croc probably put a halt to all that, and I'm sure he would have wanted her to carry on with his mission.
I think it would been more dramatic to an 8 yr old to hear her father killed by a croc, than stabbed by a sting ray, I sure Steve would rather have his kids deal with images of the lesser bloody and traumatic death.
So I think stingray for sure.
Never mind having a body to bring back to bury him.

probably a sting ray. i know that for an extreme animal conservationist that loved wild crocs and poisenious snakes a sting ray barb was a pretty soft way to go, but it would have sounded a bit dumb for the crocodile hunter to die from a crocodile. Ironic really i was just thinking of steve just then and was looking up and watching some tributes that people have made on the internet of him and i didnt really know him but he was such a great guy and an even bigger loss for everybody :(

I would think the string ray? it would of been quick rather than being ripped apart by a croc, feeling every second of the pain, knowing this was the end of his life.

Stingray I think. If he had been munched by a croc it would have questioned his expertise on his specialist animal. He unfortunately underestimated the stingray but this just shows that you can't control nature.
RIP Steve!

Good question. I think he might have expected to die by crocodile, but I don't think he thought he'd die like he did. On the news it said that pretty much no one dies of stingray attacks. I guess it's just proof that when your time is up it's up. At least he lived a very full life and did a lot of good before he died.

Crikey! what an odd question, you gotta be carefull with a question like this one coz it could spin round and have your leg off before you know anything about it! Look at the teeth on that!
Ummm I reckon he'd have preferd to have gone at the age sitting in his comfy chair with his slippers on, a tinnie in his hand and his family and mates around him.
