Its very far away and is hot and there are lots of people. I have never been there so I really have no idea what it is like as a whole. I have no problem with India or anyone from there. The people from India are just like anyone else in this world , living day to day trying to survive the best way they can.

It's a place I've wanted to visit since I saw one of Mira Nair's movies (Kama Sutra: a tale of love). There was beautiful scenery and I love the traditional way of dress.
A lot of people tell me it's a dirty place but I don't care I still want to see it for myself. I'm an American living in Israel and many Israelis visit India before or after their army service. I guess the Israelis have rubbed off on me. ;-)

I think of it as the homeland of Indians, who are a bunch of Hindus who also have a caste system, with over a billion English speakers who will cause labor pricing to drop all over the English market ( and have already). Cheap labor that speaks English in other words. Also, they run a lot of hotels, and play a lot of cricket, and a lot of them smell pretty bad because they eat so much curry and many of them don't shower. Their English vocabulary is always surprisingly large with words you don't hear normally spoken (I expect this is really because most of the ones I meet have an extremely high level of education).
I also consider them to be a future counterbalance of an aggressive Chinese sphere of influence.
Also, it's bizarre how you see tens of thousands of indians die in natural disasters and noone cares because there's so many of them and they're not white.
And they talk funny, in one of the few accents in the world hardly anyone considers sexy. Also, meditation is cool, the Rg Veda is cooler, and anyone who writes epic stories about monkeys is cool. And then there is what I informally refer to as the "purple asshole" effect, which I won't go into detail about because it's not worth thinking about. Oh, and on that note, their women are one of the very few ethnic types in the world I have absolutely no sexual attraction for. I think it's the smell. But who knows?

Largest democracy. Still a young democracy, got its independence in 1947. Has made tremendous progress in the last 60 years. Could be better...but still a great place. Had been a target of religious terrorism for many years. Still has not waged war mindlessly. People are its strength and waekness....

Good food, good people, people who place a greater value on education than native US citizens do. We in the US could learn a lot from them ... and we could teach them a lot also. Unfortunately, they (like most of the rest of the world) were oppressed for centuries by imperialists, colonialists and capitalists from Europe and the US.
