The scientific fact is that the hottest part of the flame of a candle is just above the visible flame – just like light, heat is a form of energy that we cannot see without special heat-sensing apparatus. If you, for example, place a spoonful of water just above the flame of a candle it will come to boil far more quickly than if it were placed in the middle of the flame.
Now, if you hold the wick of a candle while it is still burning in your fingers quickly enough, you can easily put off candle. Normally, it does not cause much hurt to fingers. You will feel just bearable heat on your fingers for a second that you can easily rub off.
I do this almost always because if I blow a candle off it generates thick smelly smoke that lingers on log afterwards in the room - the smoke is in fact vaporized wax. You may not believe me but I sometimes like to pluck the flame of one candle in my fingers to light all other candles in the room one by one by taking just the flame to all of them. I wouldn’t however advise you to try this; you should use matches instead. :)

Depends on the sensitivty of the skin. For some the skin on palms is as tough as that of heel and the sense of heat is not felt that much and therefore they are able to do it, otherwise one has to camoflauge by wetting their fingers or rubbing lime on to fingers etc before they put out the candle.

Ok
I am not recommending this -
You lick your fingers and then snub out the wick. You have to be quick and put lots of saliva on your fingers.
Maybe the first few times you burn your fingers till your skin toughens up. Its like you can tell if the iron is hot enough by licking your finger than touching it. (again not recommending it!)
I think there are more fun potentially less painful cool things to learn how to do.

It isnt as painful as it looks like. In fact you can run your finger through a flame quickly enough without burning it or feeling even the slightest heat.

Wet the ends of your fingers and then quickly nip the wick. Don't put your fingers on the wax part as it's too hot! No, it doesn't burn.

The flame is only hot in the middle, they wet their fingers first so they are protected. Often people that do this have quite tough skin on their fingers anyway. YOu have to do it quickly, if you hesitate your stuffed,

While I don't make a habit of doing this, I have done it before. When the flame is that small, as long as you do it quickly it doesn't hurt or burn you.

They lick their fingers before they do it. It does not burn them. I should know. I do it. It is pain free if you do it correctly.
