all these answers are from people who are effected by homosexualism, or homosexuals / omnisexuals who are just making it up. the people who would answer "no, homosexualism doesn't run in my family" are busy answering questions in other sections.
if it is more than coincidence, than here's how it works: according to alcoholics annonymous, there are three types of alcoholism, only one of them being classified as "genetic". to make a long explanation short, the likelihood of your body producing propper levels of dopamine is decreased by what you might call canker worms in the family tree.
here we see an interesting trend: there is a one in three percent chance that people can be "born gay", just like some alcoholics are "born alcoholics". neither, however, is truly born this way, but born into a family that has a high chance of having different body chemistry. while neither one can be cured, it has been proven that "born alcoholics" can be given therapy and treatment, even though an alcoholic effects people negatively only some of the time, and deserves the same rights as all of us do, including the right to stay an alcoholic, have civil unions with other alcoholics, binge drink with alcoholics, have AIDS treatments provided to them, and so on.

My Father's side of my family is HUGE, I have about 50 first cousins. I don't know many of them too well, but I would guess about 4 or 5 of them are gay.

Well, I don't have any.... and if you suggest anything I doubt it would be right. For one think it is possible to think homosexuality is hereditary, but even if everyobdoy had a gay relative it might be because of the family ethics of tolerance and understanding... Still, I would not agree with such thing, because personally I have no realtive gay, sorry...

It could be that families where one person has come out, will have more openly gay members, because someone created the precedent and made it easier for the others to come out?
I doubt its hereditary as m/m and f/f sex doesn't breed!
What exactly are you asking with this question?

Evan, what these very open-minded and honest men and women are telling you is true: Non-straights seem to run in families. One can even create gay/lesbian/bi family trees if straight relatives were honest about their ancester's sexual orientation (which they rarely are). Another reason it is so hidden is that many bi's and gays and lesbians still keep their sexuality to themselves. Sometimes even bi and gay/lesbian relatives don't even know that another member in their family is not straight.

I'm bi that's really about it for my family (and we're quite a big family). My mum's second cousin (at least I think that what he is) is gay but has been shunned. Chances are if there are more heterosexually-challenged family members they (like me) will be keeping stumm!
