well there is a pro and a con to doing this.
Going straight in, means going in graduating at a certain age, but it also means that if your maturity level is not at a good level, you will not be as disciplined enough.

I've seen alot of people take a year or two off and never go back becuz they got pregnant or they started making some money, or they started delaying going back. So you need to be disciplined enough even in this to go back

However taking that year off, kinda gives you a good break. Think about it this way, you have going to school since u were 4 or 5 years old. That will certainly burn you out. Working a year, could help you save, get your mind together, and get ready for school. But you also need to be disciplined to go back. It is proven that older students do better in college, because of maturity and experience.

So either is okay. If you want to go ahead and get it over with then that would be perfectly fine. If you want to wait a year off, then that's okay too. But whatever you do, graduate and get a great job. Your future depends on it.

It is possible to take a year off...if it's gonna be harder? well that depends on you. many people after taking a year off, dont go to college and there are some who still go!
i'm going to do my 2nd year now and i wished i took a year off as i've been fooling around during my first year cause i wasnt sure whether i'm doing the right thing or not.
taking a year off could make you decide better what you want to study at college...
good luck!

I just finished up my masters degree and I don't think taking a year off would be a bad idea before going to school. I wasted a lot of time and money my first two years of school because I was dicking around in classes and didn't know what I wanted to do.

On the downside it is very easy to take a year off then never go back to school to get a college education.

Whichever way DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HAVE A LIFE PLAN!

Yes, you can skip a year between high school and college-- or, many years, as the case may be. You can even take a year off in the middle of your college career. But, statistically speaking, people who take off time before going, or during college, tend to not go back. In fact, the longer they take off the slimmer the chance becomes of continuing their education.

It is possible. I done it. I actually took two semesters, took a year off, then went back. I stayed on the dean's list after that. So it is possible. During the year I goofed around a lot, I worked, ventured with the possibility of enrolling in other colleges, stayed up late, slept late, done whatever. In the end, I re-enrolled in the college I previously attended, done quite well with it, I was eager and 'buckled down'. It really depends upon you!

Yes, it's possible and yes, i will be harder than going straight here after high school because you will forget what you learn in high school as a preparation for your first year in college and you will waste time by taking pre-requisite courses again just to regain those lost knowledge.

Well, I did it, and I look back now and wished that I didn't. But if you go into the military, then yeah take the time off and get money for college and see the world. Otherwise, just do it now, it just gets harder and harder to finish after you get older.

It is possible, but will probably be easier if you plan to do something significant with that year rather than just lying around or holding a menial job. Those things tend to cause a loss of self-confidence which will make it all harder.

Some people use a year before college to earn extra money or to travel. It can be a really good time to start deciding what career you want to study for. I don't think most colleges care if it is only a year.

Sure, but it's dangerous, 'cause you might get used to it.
Take the summer off, then go for it.
