10 minutes ago I sent my daughter to school. She has, I think, got a cold or throat infection. But my mother-in-law is coming to stay and I need to sort out her bedroom and I can't do it with a kid sayng things like: "Can you get me a glass of water!" every 5 minutes.
I told her "Have a nice day!" knowing that she's sick and that the school will phone me to fetch her and it is all my mother in law's fault becaue I don't want her here at all!!!!

"Mmmhmm" when not really listening to someone.

"Fine. How are you doing?" in response to "How are you?" or some such question. It happens every day; usually several times a day, and I hardly ever mean that I actually am fine. Nor do I really want to know how they're doing.

"Your hair really suits you that colour"

To my mum when she had a hair dye disaster so bad that even the hairdresser could not fix it, they had to dye it really dark brown. She was so upset we were trying to comfort her, it was meant well!!
