Nope, definitely not too young. While learning to play guitar can be a little difficult initially, it gets easier with time. To prevent too much strain on her finger tips, I'd recommend starting with a nylon string guitar, or an electric guitar. The thing about the acoustic guitar is that it is much harder to press the strings down to the fretboard. So it actually hurts for someone who is new to the guitar to play. That's why electric or nylon guitar are best for a younger kid.

Wal-mart has a book in the toy department. Where they sell the kids musical instruments. It is easy enough to understand and you could help her on her way. It also comes with an audio CD. You want her to learn the sounds and not the sight of were the notes are. I got it for my 7 year old and she like it.

Good for you getting your daughter started in music. I've always regretted that I never played an instrument until I was 18. I don't knwo any good DVD's for beginners, but lessons are always great for people who have never played.

that is great! let her have a chance to get the feel of how to play the guitar. let her get some lessons... maybe there is a program somewhere that gives out lessons that is for beginners... maybe on a trial period two weeks to 1 month? twice a week? if she still likes it then go and let her get the full course. You'll never know if you have a "master" in the making in her. (dont go out buying her that expensive guitar yet untill she's got the hang of it... us mothers we tend to spoil our kids :))

I would just reccommend going to your local music store that sells instruments. You can both ask them for a reccommendation for your situation and you can also read the packaging for yourself that way. I'm sure their are lots of good ones for beginners and who knows what you will find in your area. You might even find something that is suited to her age group, which would be great.

There are not to many video's out there for children that young. Maybe you should have someone come to the house to teach her. You will find more books and cd's for children.

Tell her to get some roadies and some tour dates. Tell her she can tour as far away as she wants as long as she's home in time for supper.
