I know this is impossible - at present, so please don't give me that answer. Just say it was possible and they drilled a hole from England to Australia - steel lined with a two foot diameter, what would happen.

Also, if you came up under an Ocean, would all the water drain through?

Maybe diamond lined but even then I think the inner temperatures would be too hot. It would be a great way of getting geothermal power. If you had a tube going through the center of the earth you could jump in and you would fall straight to the other side. The gravity would propel you to the center and then slow you down as you started to go to the other side. You would burn to a crisp as you reached the center though. The gravitational pull would create great strain on the tube you created. If the tube is small it would do no noticeable effect to the planet considering you have it sealed to the crust. There is a believe that the center is a solid but that the majority of it is still a magma; which is similar to a fluid and would have to move around your tube.

Well WTF man,It is impossible even if we had a drill long enough to reach through the crust.The drill would either melt from the heat of the mantle,Even if we had some sort of super strong material that could resist temperatures of 5,000 degrees for an extended amount of time,the mantle is not solid,So any holes you drilled would quickly close up.Its like when you plunge your fist into water,you displace an amount of water and make a dent in the water that lasts for about half a second.

You should drill from the water side first, that way the incoming water will cool the hot magma, allowing you to continue through the other side. It'll cool the interior off so we can at last not have any more techtonic plates shifting around causing earthquakes and volcanoes.

assuming the ability to drill a hole and install a pipe that could stand the pressure and temperature of the core of earth (steel is not enough, and as far as I know there is no material that can stand the heat and pressure and not melt) i see no reason why the crust of the earth would collapse.

offered AND PAID FOR with the help of means of BP. Why did no longer he order proper Kill on the starting up up, really of letting BP attempt to maintain the oil with a huge field that did no longer artwork? it type of appears like Obama cared more desirable about saving the oil than he cared about saving the ambience from the significant significant oil spill in historic previous. Or - grew to develop into into that really Obama calling those pictures.....?

good question...very intelligent, the problem is we will not really know until we try doing it... and because it is impossible to do....logically...it will be impossible to know.....and draining of the water....maybe not.....we dont even spill any of it as we orbit around......lets see gravity...yes.....
