are you doing anything you thought you'd be doing?

I remember praying on Sept 10, 2001 ~
Lord, Give me something to think about besides my own problems.
I have always felt guilty about that prayer in reflection.
It seems like all we've thought of are the events of post 9/11 America.

A few months before 9/11, my parents died suddenly. Then a year later my brother died. My industry is gone. Today many with college degrees get paid $8-12 an hour; that is, if they can get a job.

The news has it's daily "world is ending" negativity. Feminists want more, Pedophiles strike terror in all of us & now high tech jobs are being outsourced.

Mexico has virtually invaded America, Democrats & Republicans both play the blame game while 50 million + have no health insurance...

The "Chicken flu" supposedly didn't hit America,
yet many emergency rooms were overwhelmed.
The media has become biased, violence is going up, tv has become porn & brainless acts of who can be more insulting & outrageous...?

Rich relatives don't talk anymore to poor relatives. You can't reach a customer service person on the phone & if you do, you can't understand them thru their thick accents.

I'm told corporations run America; and looking at Haliburton's contracts, I believe it. We are all talking about a fifth grade word "terror" while
our rights to privacy are being taken away.

All the while, we are increasingly being tracked online & off. Carrying toothpaste on an airplane is now a terrorist act. Meanwhile daily we are told the "terror alert" is at green, blue or poo color.

Americans have become cold hearted sissies who are terrified of the ever growing Politically Correct. Piss them off & you lose your job besides getting crucified on tv.

Money rules & honesty is for fools. Or so tv now tells us. TV "makes" history while real history is no longer taught. It's too difficult...& everyone must be a winner in today's USA.

In a "Children Come First" USA, children come in last. Parents throw them all day into the hands of strangers. And divorced fathers are thrown by the wayside in wholesale slaughter.

This is called progress...? Maybe if I get a job in Walmart, I'll be lucky. In a way, I'm a survivor of 9/11. Heck I was supposed to be in the building that day...

Bottomline, our society is becoming unglued & polarized at ever increasing rates...just trying to be positive is a daily struggle. Perhaps helping others when we can, is the best one can do in this situation.

And praying, for it could be worse...

I think what the interviewer is looking for is to see if you have goals, and plan ahead, and also if they are realistic and include growth.
qualities that people with leadership and forsight and overall healthy people possess.
To have no thought of your future or plan to get there may represent laziness or lack of creativity or purpose or forsight.
but life offers the curve balls from time to time.
sometimes we rethink our goals or plan new roads to get to the same place.
we can think about others problems but we still have to deal with our own, how we treat others is important on a large scale as well as small, it has to start somewhere, and that is just one person at a time, and it starts home.We have no guarantees that we will have tomorrow, 9/11 is a sad reminder.Just remember to tell those close to you everyday that you love them and show it, never know when it will be the last time you will see them.

Peace

I'm not doing what I THOUGHT I would be doing, but I am doing what I believe is right for the moment. That question in an interview is really to see if you can picture yourself growing in your field, with the company, or furthering your knowledge. Also to see if you have a positive outlook on life.
