I need a list of the most popular items and/or services sold on the Internet. I'm trying to make a website.

I don't know about the whole Internet... However, Amazon.com sells an awful lot of stuff---and it ranks each product in each category by its sales popularity on their site.
Just look up any item in the category that interests you (books, DVDs, etc.), then search the page for a line that says:
Amazon.com Sales Rank:
That's followed by a number, showing how popular that item is in its category.
You can then see that category's top sellers (#1, #2, etc.) by clicking the "See Top Sellers In..." link right next to that.
