The Aztec Ruins National Monument, which preserves ancestral Pueblo Indians' structures (in north-western New Mexico, United States), comes to my mind. It is located close to the town of Aztec and northeast of Farmington, near the Animus River.

Oh that spectacular road trip....
Carlsbad Caverns, backcountry camping in Yucca Canyon, White Sands, Cloudcroft, getting accidentally drunk in Las Cruces, the VLA telescope field, getting evacuated from Bandolier National Monument because the wind had changed direction putting us in the path of the Los Alamos wildfire.... what a trip!
LOVE New Mexico.

Lived in Santa Fe for 15 years. Miss the food, the dry climate, and Lotta burgers with a side of chile peppers!
