Anti-american? What rot.

V for Vendetta is based on a comic book series written by Alan Moore set in a dystopian future United Kingdom.

The hero works to destroy the authoritarian government. (If you think that model fits any particular country today - then feel free to view it as a cautionary tale).

Technically it's as anti-American as George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.

I urge you to read the graphic novel before seeing the movie. It has deeper, richer context than can fit in the mere medium of film (as faithful as the interpretation might have been; it still has its limits).

The movie is mostly based on the book, however, some of the plot elements were changed to parody current events and Americans' fears of a totalitarian takeover.

It is definately not anti-american, its anti-communism / anti-racism/ its against dictatorship, I really love the movie because it says that the government is made BY the people and not FOR them.. also it shows that freedom is priceless and we should do whatever it takes to achieve it..

It s a hard movie to follow and lack a lot of realism. there is no way that this guy is going to build all those bombs and replace the rail road ties, dig out the tunnel its all bogus.

I haven't seen this movie but I think it just came out on video and i'm definitely interested in renting it. I have always liked Natalie Portman and she shaves her head for this movie!
