Im not making judment one way or the other. My point is that clearly without dispute, Fox is tuned in more than other channels combined. Does this reflect the American train of thought?

They claim it's a conservative soap box because for so many years all this country had was liberal left wing wackos pretending to be real journalists. Compared to those types, anyone who goes on TV and reports the REAL news is going to look like a conservative. The truth is in the numbers. They can't explain it intelligently so expect to be attacked.

Those numbers prove that Fox is the most popular source of TV news, but that's a far cry from proving that the democratic party is doomed.
You could just as easily look at recent opinion polls on which party people want to have controlling congress, and conclude that the republicans are doomed. Of course, you'd be wrong doing that too. Reality is too complex to lend itself to such simplistic analysis.
In any case, if one party suffers several decisive defeats in a row, there'll be a power shakeup in that party, it'll revise its agenda, and we'll have competitive elections again. One party or the other may change, but it's a virtual certainty that neither party will be going away any time soon.

Figure it out for yourself. People who report Fox as their primary news source are among those Americans most likely to: think had Saddam Hussein had ties to Al-Qaeda and international terrorism, that Iraq had something to do with 9/11, that Iraq had MWD’s, that the war in Iraq is about bringing to justice the people who attacked us, that AQ terrorists enter the US from Mexico, and that the mythologies of Creationism and Intelligent Design are real.
Fox news has aggressively marketed these lies and falsehoods, and continues to spread them, even after the White House admits they are not true.
My current favorite Fox scam is their claim that the ‘mainstream media’ is not reporting the ‘good’ news from Iraq. First, as you numbers suggest, Fox news along with conservative talk-radio are the mainstream media. Second, for all their bitching and whining about the mainstream media not reporting the good news, it is interesting that Fox news does not report much good news either. This is obviously because there is no good news out of Iraq to report – because if there were you can be sure that Fox would be showing it 24-7. To my knowledge, even Fox has not shown any pictures of new roads, or bridges, or schools, or hospitals, or anything else that would indicate some positive result from all the blood and money it is costing us.
You underestimate Fox. They prey on the weak minds of scared, superstitious and poorly educated Americans to further the greedy ambition of the fraction of a percent of the population that controls most of America’s wealth and power. In a well executed Rovian strategic campaign, they managed to get those Americans who lives will suffer the most from implementation of the right-wings agenda (lower income and poorly educated white Americans) to turn out and vote for Bush and his gang of lying thieves. These people are, literally, sacrificing the lives of their children so the already filthy-rich club of Bushites and get even richer.
Stupid is as stupid does, I guess.

scubbadog35....I think you are not using very sound logic here. Yes it may be true that FOX has higher ratings but the flaw in your llogic is that there are many more "mainstream" media stations that the one major right slanted "UNFAIR AND UNBALLANCED" station that is basically an extention of the republican party. My point here is that all the other viewers have a lot of choices and their "vote" if you want to call it is split wheras FOX is one of the only games in town for the heard of conservative sheep to flock to. BTW the media is still slanted to the left but that is changing fast and it is fast being controlled by the right from a financial base.

Good 'ol lefties pimping rides again. Luckily they don't get many persidents elected, so we can laugh at them as comedy. CNN and PMSNBC are a typical democrat hate group. Kinda' like the biased BBC, with better English. FOX is the most centerist news there is and people who pay for tv want that kind of quality.

I am conservative, and I'll think for myself, rather than be guided by "polls" and "ratings."
O'Reilly is conservative and he's not even my idea of a good spokesman for conservatism. The first time in my life I ever got so mad at what I was hearing on TV that I actually yelled at my TV, it was O'Reilly who pi--ed me off.
Hanity & Colmes? Is that an even-handed show? Ha!
Is Brit Hume and his cast of commentators even-handed? 'Nother Ha!

It's kind of depressing to realize that that many people actually watch such garbage.
Maybe it has to do with what cable TV packages CNN and Fox News are included in? Maybe Fox News just reaches more homes?
Really I just can't believe that so many people, given the choice, would watch that crap.

I'm from the UK but saw Fox News once while on holiday. I was hoping to get some news but unfortunately found the most biased, propaganda-spewing, opinionated, misinformed non-news channel in western civilization!! And that was after watching ten minutes of it.
I fail to see your logic but I do commend your tenacity - unfortunately those numbers just prove popularity. And it's actually a rather sad set of figures. It shows that the average TV-watching American is a meathead.

maybe. i think it also shows that the more sensational you make a show, the more people it draws. there is a bias in news media toward sensationalism, simplistic controversy, and any other tactics that increase ratings. fox has shown its remarkable talent for such things.
