There is NO reason why they wouldn't qualify.
The facts:
there are 10 games left (30 points) and anyone in the group can qualify (included the Faroe Islands).

Because winning the World Cup does not automatically qualify Italy for anything. Italy will have to qualify for 2008 just like the Faroe Islands, Andorra, and Lichtenstein.

Ok, like many people say, the Italians are not done yet. They have way more games to play.
By the way, as for the facts, I really don't know. I didn't even know how they held on to win the World Cup because they were outplayed ever since the 40 min mark.
Maybe because the Serie A didn't start, so players are out of shape?
Because the Scadal affected players will to play?
No creative midfielder like Totti?
No deadly finisher like Vieri?
Lippi was better than the new coach?

They will qualify, but they won't won!!!!
After this WC a lot of teams are having ''change of generation'' (Brasil, Chech, Italy, ...)!!! Team that won WC was golden generation, but players are at the end of their carriers( Totti, Del Piero, Nesta, Cannavaro, Materazzi, Inzaghi, ..... all over 30 )!! Italy doesn't have any good young players, so it's going to be very hard for Donadoni to make a great '' new'' team!!!!
When they played against Croatia , 8 of players in Italy team was playing together for a first time, it's pure logic that they will lost!!!
FACT: Italy doesn't have young players like Podolski, Messi, Robinho, Fabergas, Lennon,... I think that is a big problem for them(you) in the future!!!

They will qualify, don't worry. They always start bad in a competition but then, they climbed the stairs little by little. They will succeed, why wouldn't they Juventina? You yourself said it, Italy Winners of 4 World Cups. So don't worry, they will be qualified. Just don't discourage because Italy need their fans to support and encourage them, not to discourage them. Just wait and you'll see, they will be qualified.
Forza Italia!!

the FIFA World Cup & the UEFA European Championship is organised by two different confederations.
the qualifying matches for both tournaments is held separately, therefore when ITALY won the World Cup, they don't qualify automatically to the European Championship finals. they have to play in the qualiying matches to qualify for the European Championship finals.
please also note that the World Cup champions must now qualify for the next World Cup & ITALY, despite being the new World Cup champions, they have to play in the qualifying matches in order to qualify for the World Cup.

you are wrong when you say then euro 2008 is nothing for them
first as you say,,,if a team is capable of winning the worldcup.WHY the hell cant they qualify for the world cup...
please dont take it as an insult.......just because italy won the worldcup doesnt mean they are the best because they arenot..
they won the worldcup by a miracle..
A WORLDCUP champion is capable of winning any other tournament...and italy couldnt win 1 match after the tournament which means they are not the real champions

maybe because qualifying doesn't start til this fall. winning the world cup doesn't guarantee qualification, because it's a seperate event. and the number of world cups won is neither here nor there, so really it makes no difference whether they've won four or none. they will probably qualify once it starts, but it hasn't yet

you want facts i'll give you facts.italy has a winning team at present & when the new players start to get familiar with the national team they will play with more confidence the wins will come trust me.italy has defence offence & class.if any team can pull off back to back w/c wins its italy & they'll most probably throw in euro08 as well. i am confident italy can pull it off.
