We do not like to express ourselves because it is not normal. A lot of us growing up had dads that did not express, so why never have been in the situation. I suggest you talk with him and let him know how you feel about the lack of expression. If he cares about you he will change for you.

I don't know. My father is 56 and still has a hard time expressing himself. He refuses to admit when he is sad or mad or etc.

He never even says "I love you" to my mother. He says he does love her but is just teasing her. We all know he's afraid to show real emotion.

All straight men and the men in the gay relationships are like that. We will never know...

I think it's cause most men are ******* inept and expressing their emotions to people unless they are in a relationship with someone. In which case they come raining down in a kind of pansy-esc hissy fit. It's what my friends call the "Closet-cryer" - the guy who says things to his girl like "I've got all these emotions and they're kept all bottled up!"

I believe it's partly because women seemingly tend to misunderstand or even not really listen when we attempt to express our true intentions or feelings, so we tend to just not talk . . .

because expressing yourself takes energy to stop what you are currently doing, and then to use energy to express.. so that is just a waste.
